Energy Plus is Korea’s leading fuel payment app, transforming the traditional 12-step refueling process into just four.
At the heart of this change is Quick Fuel—designed to eliminate common pain points like lengthy steps, carrying loyalty cards, and missing out on coupons. Users simply pre-register their preferred fuel type, payment method, and loyalty card once, then reuse the same preset on every visit. One tap reveals a barcode; scanning it at the pump completes both fueling and payment instantly. This single action streamlines the journey from fuel selection to payment, delivering faster service, fewer errors, and a more satisfying experience at the pump.
For added convenience, Energy Plus shows real-time prices of nearby stations and integrates with navigation apps for seamless route planning. It also uses generative AI to analyze customer reviews, creating station personas that highlight each location’s unique strengths. When responding to these reviews, station managers receive context-aware reply suggestions, enabling faster responses and fostering stronger connections with customers.
To ensure accessibility in any driving scenario, Energy Plus introduced refueling-industry-first features such as a home-screen widget, Shake & Pay for instant feature launch, and numeric code display via CarPlay and Android Auto. After fueling, users receive a digital report summarizing payments, discounts, and loyalty points, along with a prompt to leave a review—completing a smooth, connected customer journey.
The visual design blends bright, energetic colors with intuitive icons and clear typography, creating a friendly atmosphere that reflects Energy Plus’s brand identity while bridging generational preferences between digitally-native younger drivers and seasoned motorists. Colors meet WCAG accessibility standards for clear visibility, while strategic thumb-zone placement and pre-filled Quick Fuel presets minimize taps—making refueling feel effortless, comfortable, and consistently reliable.
As a result, Energy Plus became Korea’s No. 1 fuel payment app, with 450,000 monthly active users and 1.87 million total sign-ups. Following Quick Fuel’s launch, average fueling volume rose 35.3% (from 30 to 41 liters). The 2024 design renewal boosted the App Store rating from 1.9 to 4.5, significantly increased review volume, and raised NPS from 20.0 to 37.5 within two years—outpacing local competitors.
