About The Entry
Imagine 350+ of the world's most influential aviation and travel media voices stepping inside a hangar at the busiest active runway in LAX. Not to sit in rows. Not to hear a presentation. But to feel the future of flight unfold around them in real-time.
United Elevated wasn't another product launch. It was a deliberate rejection of the press-release playbook. We knew that features alone couldn't capture the transformation United was engineering. So we designed a sensory-first experience: a series of immersive stations where journalists didn't observe the brand's next chapter; they inhabited it. They heard it. Felt it. Tasted it.
The setting was everything. That hangar backdrop: against runway activity that drummed with real-world energy—wasn't decoration. It was metaphor. We were literally staging the airline's evolution against the machinery of flight itself.
But the turning point came with the reveal of Relax Row. Rather than drowning journalists in technical specifications, we shifted perspective: What if we saw this innovation through a child's eyes?
We created a high-energy film following a "little frequent flyer" whose seat became magic. It transformed from a movie theater into a reading nook, then a coloring castle. By placing media inside that narrative rather than outside it, we turned them into participants. They weren't covering a product launch—they were living the promise of what United's innovation meant for real families.
The results redefined what "coverage" could be. Journalists didn't just report on new seat configurations; they told the story of the experience itself. Articles highlighted not just product specs but the audacity of the event design. A halo effect rippled through coverage—United became synonymous with travel experience innovation, not just airline amenities.
More than that: we shifted the competitive landscape. While other airlines played catch-up, United had already written the rules of a new game. The brand didn't just launch products that day. It launched a narrative so compelling that the story of how United told the story became part of the story itself.
That's the power of moving beyond the transactional to the transformational.
