IBM TechXchange: scaling the World’s Fastest-Growing Developer Destination.
We partnered with IBM to transform TechXchange into a premier hands-on learning experience—doubling attendance in two years and proving IBM’s AI and emerging technologies are ready to build with today.
In 2025, TechXchange welcomed over 8,000 attendees from 82 countries and delivered over 1,500+ technical sessions and labs. Designed for developers, engineers, and practitioners, the event rejected the traditional conference model in favor of a community-led, deeply technical experience.
Anchored in the “GO/” theme—Explore, Build, Launch—the experience shifted focus from passive listening to active participation. Instead of keynote-driven programming, attendees engaged in hands-on experimentation, peer-to-peer learning, and real-world problem solving.
At the center was The Sandbox, a reimagined expo where learning, collaboration, and play converged. GPJ embedded instructor-led labs and certification stations directly into the expo floor, enabling seamless movement from discovery to execution. A guided journey across 11 technical tracks—including AI, data security, and cloud—transformed a complex program into a personalized learning path.
Community was central to the design. Custom “Dorm Rooms” empowered IBM technologists to host peer-led sessions, giving IBM tech leads and loyalists space to express their identities through approved décor and tabletop games, enabling authentic, peer-led connections. To sustain engagement, we integrated wellness and play, including a Wellness Park with full-sized swings, a leveled-up Sandbox Arcade featuring retro console gaming, and the AI Sports Club featuring custom activations highlighting IBM’s sports partnerships.
By shifting the center of gravity from the stage to the workstation, GPJ helped IBM operationalize its innovation story at scale. Attendance grew to 10,000+, including 7,000 external participants, 1,200 speakers across 110 spaces, and high-volume badging and certifications unlocked access to the exclusive Credentials Club, reinforcing learning outcomes beyond the event.
TechXchange proved the value, accessibility, practicality, and power of IBM technology through experience.
