About The Entry
The Mira Hong Kong hosted the first-ever Ramadan Iftar Dinner by a luxury hotel in Hong Kong on 4 March 2025. In partnership with Miramar Travel and the Consulate General of Türkiye, the gala brought together nearly 200 guests including VIPs, diplomats, and Muslim community representatives. The event celebrated Hong Kong's commitment to Muslim-friendly hospitality and cultural inclusivity, positioning the city as a premier destination for Muslim travellers and communities.
An Immersive Venue Transformation
The penthouse ballroom was transformed to honor Ramadan traditions. The evening began with a sunset prayer led by the Chief Imam of Hong Kong, Mufti Muhammad Arshad, collowed by the symbolic breaking of the fast with dates and lentil soup, connecting attendees to Ramadan customs. The event seamlessly transitioned from ceremonial opening to festive celebration at the venue adorned with crescent-shaped lanterns and mahya lights at the entrance inspired by the Ottoman-era tradition of decorative lights strung up between the minarets of Turkish mosques to form illuminated Ramadan greetings. This thoughtful spatial design created an immersive experience that honored Ramadan traditions while celebrating togetherness and cultural appreciation.
Culinary Excellence and Diverse Engagement
The gala featured a sumptuous Halal buffet showcasing cuisines ranging from authentic Chinese to Mediterranean specialties, reflecting Hong Kong's diverse culinary landscape and the hotel's commitment to inclusive dining filled with regional specials. Beyond the culinary offerings, the event featured rich cultural programming that engaged guests throughout the evening. Traditional live music performances transported attendees to different cultural realms, while an enchanting Turkish shadow puppet theatre provided artistic entertainment that dates back centuries. The interactive Turkish Bazaar, featuring traditional Ramadan snacks including simit (Turkish Pretzels) and baklava pastries as well as authentic Arabic coffee brewed in hot sand, invited guests to participate actively in a journey of cultural discovery. This multi-sensory approach transformed the gala into more than a gathering — it became a celebration of cultural heritage, community unity, and the universal language of hospitality. The presence of 12 Consuls General and distinguished diplomats underscored the event's diplomatic and cultural significance, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a welcoming, culturally sophisticated destination.
