About The Entry

Built in 1953, Xiluo Bridge spans the Jhuoshuei River between Yunlin and Changhua counties. Once celebrated as the longest bridge in the Far East, it has long served as both transportation route and cultural passage. Temple processions and pilgrimages cross regularly, linking the religious and cultural lives of communities on both banks.
2025 Xiluo Bridge Folkart Parade Festival turns the bridge into a stage. Processions, martial arts performances, and ritual demonstrations unfold across its span, placing traditional folk arts within public view and modern context. The bridge functions as historic landmark and active gathering place. A highlight is the communal calligraphy event, where hundreds write blessings in ink directly on the bridge. The collective act makes calligraphy public and participatory, moving it from private art form to shared ritual.
The two-day festival makes folk arts accessible through direct participation rather than observation. Visitors experience the history and cultural traditions of this century-old town firsthand, ensuring these practices continue to evolve and remain vital.
