2025 Yilan International Children's Play and Art Festival

Started in Yilan thirty years ago, the Yilan International Children’s Folklore & Folkgame Festival was initiated out of the vision of “water, greenery, and childlike joy.” It is a celebration created for children, while awakening the childlike spirits within adults. “Infinite Childlike Wonder, 30 Years of Folkgames” took place from July 5 to August 17, 2025, at Donshan River Water Park. More than a tribute to the festival’s 30-year journey, it symbolizes the strength and continuity of this celebration. Here, the park transforms into a playground for children and a spiritual garden for adults, where generations share laughter and culture thrives through play. Childlike wonder awakens pure joy, while folkgames connect generations, weaving a luminous celebration that has lasted for thirty years. This is not merely a festival, but also an artistic dialogue that transcends ages, borders, and time. That is, a joyful celebration that belongs to everyone.
Childlike wonder: Symbolizing a pure and joyful state of mind, light, interactivity and play awaken the simplest form of happiness and create resonance across generations.
Folkgames: As carriers of culture and emotion, folkgames serve as bridges of connection through art, light, technology, showcasing the essence of the past three decades while opening a new chapter for the festival.
Within the four major lighting themes, a total of 18 themed zones are featured: Childhood Corridor, Starry Reflections, Voyage of Starlight, Dancing Galaxy, Resonance of Sound and Light, Playground of Joy, Wall of Light and Shadow, Floating Illusions, Leaping Light Drops, Journey of Flowing Light, Play Among the Clouds, Gate of Wonder, Water Light Station, Sweet Realm of the Crouching Dragon, Dancing Butterflies and Starry Whispers, Whispers of Glow, Wishes in Light and Shadow, Forest of Shimmering Wings.
The fairytale-like journey begins from the very moment you step into the illuminated forest. Lights shimmer like stars, preserving memories unique to each visitor. As you roam through glowing corridors and along the riverside, every light marks a new beginning, which carries blessings for a future filled with happiness and wonder.
