It provides a variety of ways and themes for users to learn history,making the history learning process more enjoyable and entertaining. The implementation of History Addict can turn the originally tedious history learning process into a gamified experience. All the features can be easily interacted with through common hand gestures, such as click, swipe, drag, as well as press and hold. Users can access these features with ease. The homepage feed automatically recommends courses that are currently trending based on other users’ interest on the app. On top of this, the app leverages machine learning algorithms to suggest courses to the user based on his/her past searching, browsing, and learning behaviors. This ensures the user can get a good mix of familiar history topics that are similar to those they have learnt before and fresh history topics that they haven’t touched on yet. Users can study history through a variety of means, such as reading materials, video lectures, gamified quizzes, and discussion forums, etc. The various learning forms are designed for greater flexibility to suit different user groups’ needs. For example, the reading materials combine text and relevant illustrations/images to make the reading experience more immersive. The video lectures provide interpretation from a scholar’s perspective to help users understand complicated knowledge points. On top of this, the interactive quizzes not only serve as an effective tool to test learning outcomes but also as a game to add joy to the users’ learning experience.
