In this complex world, there's a unique group known as highly sensitive people. They possess extraordinary perception, often capturing details others overlook. As a sensitive individual, I'm deeply affected by this, inspiring this project. Highly sensitive people are often overlooked, with their emotions misunderstood as overreactions. This project explores their emotional responses and behaviors in daily life.
During creation, I interviewed friends with highly sensitive traits, learning about their unique worldviews. I chose diverse materials to simulate touch and add depth to the work. Silicone mimics skin, while wool and lace add delicacy. Experimenting with paraffin wax and stockings revealed a striking crack effect.
Inspired by emotional fluctuations and sensitive skin reactions, I used embroidery, wound sutures, and nerve transmission images to depict the experiences of highly sensitive people. Sutures inserted into wax-soaked fabric create a crack-like effect, while beads and lines simulate allergic skin reactions, showcasing touch and emotion.
Reflecting on seemingly ordinary words from interactions that deeply impacted me, I realized their subtle power to shape my emotional world. I embroidered these words, with each stitch representing my mental journey. Ultimately, these embroidery works are bound together, forming a unique whole that carries past memories and emotions.
