Leading up to the holiday season in 2024, Pepsi came to NBCUniversal in the hopes of delivering a seasonal surprise to their fans and to show audiences how Pepsi actually makes food taste better; making it essential for any holiday party.
To bring this messaging to life, we leveraged an iconic pair of NBCU talent to recreate an equally iconic holiday scene from the fan-favorite film Love Actually. Enter Seth Meyers and beloved cue card handler Wally Feresten who has previously worked with Meyers on Saturday Night Live and who currently works with him on Late Night with Seth Meyers where he occasionally makes surprise on-screen cameos.
To round out the cast of this holiday parody, we brought in Thomas Brodie-Sangster from the original cast of Love Actually. Together, the trio share their love of Pepsi and in keeping with the themes of the film, show audiences that Pepsi and pizza make a perfect pair. As the commercial concludes, "Pizza Deserves Pepsi."
This piece of creative ran across NBCU’s holiday programming both on linear and digitally on Peacock. It was also shared across Instagram and TikTok using NBCU’s owned and operated social handles as well as in a collaboration post with Seth Meyers himself.
The result was over 63 million impressions across all platforms with 37 percent and 40 percent video view rates on TikTok and Instagram respectively.
By pairing iconic talent with an iconic film, we were able to create a high-impact piece of custom content that resonated with fans and proved that pizza actually tastes better with Pepsi.
